Tips for Picture-Perfect Confetti Moments

Timing is Everything
The best time to throw confetti is right after the ceremony, as you and your partner walk back down the aisle. It’s the perfect moment of celebration, and your guests are already lined up and ready to cheer. If you’re planning a group photo, or reception entrance, you can incorporate confetti then too, but keep in mind the mess and clean-up.

Choose Eco-Friendly Confetti
While traditional paper confetti or rice may be fun, it’s important to think about the environmental impact. Many venues are now asking couples to opt for biodegradable options like flower petals, dried lavender, or rice paper confetti that dissolves naturally. Eco-friendly confetti is both beautiful and responsible, and it ensures your wedding has a minimal impact on the environment.

Consider Your Venue’s Rules
Not all venues will allow confetti, especially indoors or in historic locations. Be sure to check with your venue beforehand to avoid any surprises or rules when it comes to confetti and options available. If confetti isn’t allowed inside, you might consider a fun confetti moment outdoors during your bridal portraits.

It’s all in the Confetti Launch
Make sure you have a clear plan for your confetti moments. Having your guests line up ready with a little direction from your celebrant/officiant and assist in creating the perfect confetti photo. Consider providing small cones, bags, or baskets filled with confetti for guests to grab, and even assign a few people to coordinate the action while you are signing your paperwork. Direction is definitely required when it comes to instructing your guests what to do with their confetti. You want your guests to throw above your heads, not at you!

Don’t Forget About Clean-Up
While confetti can make for fantastic photos, it’s also good to plan for cleanup, if one is required. If you need to clean up your confetti, have a team or a clean-up crew ready to go, this is another reason why a biodegradable or water soluble option is great.

Capture the Moment
As a photographer, I know confetti moments can be magical and a lot of fun. To get the best shots, it helps if everyone throws the confetti at the same time, so again, timing is key. Have someone to instruct your guests to to avoid throwing it too early or too late. We want confetti mid-air, joyful faces with those unforgettable “just married” vibes.
